Counter-Strike 2 at EWC 26 Survival Guide

Aug 18, 2026.

Paris Expo Porte de Versailles set the stage for the return of Counter-Strike 2 on a bigger scale than ever. From August 12-23, EWC 26 features 32 teams competing across two weeks of action, marking the first year the tournament has expanded to this format. The upgrade culminates at Accor Arena, which will host the Grand Final on August 23.

After the Last Chance Qualifier in Week 5, Week 6 saw 32 teams split into four groups of eight for a double-elimination Group Stage, with the top 16 advancing to the Playoffs. The 16-team Playoff bracket shifts to single elimination, where one misstep can end a team’s run and send even the world’s best home.

Back to defend their throne

The MongolZ made history at EWC 25, lifting the championship trophy and marking a breakthrough moment for Asian Counter-Strike 2. The club became the first Asian team to win an S-tier CS2 tournament and has since reached No. 1 in both the HLTV World Rankings and Valve Regional Standings. Roster changes have since reshaped the lineup, adding another challenge to their title defense.

The defending champions opened EWC 26 with a sweep over M80, but dropped to the Lower Bracket after a hard-fought battle against Natus Vincere. A 2-0 sweep of paiN Gaming secured their Playoff spot, setting up another run at the title with the Grand Final waiting at Accor Arena.

The homecoming heroes

Team Vitality enters EWC 26 with a massive home-field advantage and unfinished business. After falling 1-2 to defending champions The MongolZ at EWC 25, the French club has been waiting for another chance to settle the score.

Powered by passionate home support, Vitality dominated its opening match against 100 Thieves before a shocking upset against Ukrainian club B8 sent the team to the Lower Bracket. Superstar Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut then led the charge against Lynn Vision Gaming, sweeping the series to secure Vitality’s Playoff berth. Now, the French titans have a chance to finish on the podium in front of their home crowd and finally claim the EWC title.

Rankings meet reality

Many of the teams at the top of the international rankings enter the Playoffs with another chance to prove they are the best in the world. Team Falcons, Team Spirit, FURIA, Team Vitality and NAVI headline the field, but rankings are only numbers on a page. With the world’s best colliding in Paris, upsets are inevitable and any team can make a run at the title.

Club Championship

CS2 at EWC 26 marks the finale of the Club Championship, serving as the final title of the entire tournament. With several clubs near the top of the standings still alive in the Playoffs, the results here could decide the championship. Team Falcons currently leads the leaderboard with 4,150 points and will need a strong finish to hold onto first place, while Team Vitality also remains in the hunt and could make a late push with a deep Playoff run.
