Esports World Cup Co-Streamer Rules & Guidelines
This page outlines the rules and responsibilities that apply to all authorized co-streamers for the Esports World Cup 2026.
1. Monetization
Co-streamers are participating in an official watch-party experience on behalf of EWC. This arrangement differs from independent content production, and the following distinctions apply when it comes to revenue and commercial activity.
1.1 Permitted monetization
- Platform-native monetization is permitted, including ads served directly by the streaming platform (e.g. YouTube AdSense, Twitch Ads).
- All platform-generated ad revenue belongs entirely to the co-streamer.
- Platform-native viewer support features, such as subscriptions, channel points, and direct contributions, are permitted.
1.2 Prohibited monetization
- Co-streamers may not sell merchandise, branded products, or personal sponsorships during the broadcast.
- Third-party brand integrations or paid promotions are not permitted during the co-stream.
- The broadcast may not be used as a vehicle for independent commercial production.
1.3 Non-transferability of rights
Rights granted under the co-streamer agreement are personal and non-transferable. Co-streamers may not sublicense, resell, assign, or otherwise transfer their broadcast rights to any third party.
2. Music Rights & DMCA
2.1 Scope of whitelisting
Upon approval, co-streamers are added to an official whitelist that provides protection against DMCA claims for music included within the EWC broadcast. This entitlement is limited in scope and does not:
- Cover any music the co-streamer independently introduces during the broadcast.
- Grant access to any third-party music library.
- Extend to content produced outside of the official broadcast feed.
Any music played independently remains the sole responsibility of the co-streamer. EWC accepts no liability for DMCA claims arising from a co-streamer's own content choices.
2.2 Enforcement by platform
Violations are identified and addressed as follows:
YouTube
Enforcement is fully automated via YouTube's Content ID system. Non-whitelisted channels are flagged immediately upon broadcast.
TikTok & Kick
Enforcement is handled manually. Unauthorized channels are identified and reported directly to the platform by EWC for removal.
Twitch
Enforcement capacity is currently limited. Copyright action on Twitch requires a manual legal process that falls outside EWC's current operational bandwidth. Unauthorized streamers with significant viewership will be contacted directly and encouraged to apply for official co-streamer status.
3. Content Standards
Co-streamers are considered official representatives of EWC for the duration of their broadcast. The following content standards apply at all times.
3.1 Permitted content
- In-depth game analysis and strategic commentary.
- Evidence-based critical discussion of gameplay or tournament decisions.
- Competitive debate and moderated viewer engagement.
3.2 Prohibited content
- Hate speech in any form, directed at any individual or group.
- Targeted harassment of players, staff, or members of the community.
- Allegations of match-fixing or misconduct without verified, substantiated evidence.
- Defamatory statements concerning players, staff, or sponsors.
- Any conduct that encourages or facilitates stream sniping.
- Promotion of gambling or betting services.
- Promotion of, or association with, any brand or entity listed on the EWC sponsor blacklist, as published on the official EWC co-streaming website. Co-streamers are required to ensure full compliance with this list prior to and during their broadcast.
4. Technical Requirements
4.1 Stream quality
- Broadcast at a minimum resolution of 720p. A resolution of 1080p is strongly recommended.
- Conduct audio checks prior to going live. The co-streamer's microphone must not overpower the official broadcast audio at any point.
- The official broadcast delay must be observed at all times.
- The official broadcast audio must not be muted for extended periods during the stream.
4.2 Overlay and sponsor compliance
Sponsor visibility is a contractual obligation of the EWC broadcast. Co-streamers must ensure the following at all times:
- All official EWC logos, overlays, and sponsor placements must remain fully visible and unobstructed.
- The broadcast must not be reframed or cropped in a manner that removes sponsor placements from view.
- Co-streamer overlays and channel branding must not be placed over any official sponsor placement.
- Co-streamers are not permitted to promote their own advertisements or personal sponsorships during the broadcast without explicit prior written permission from EWC.
4.3 Recurring compliance issues
The following violations have been recorded in previous events. Co-streamers are required to ensure none of the following occur:
- Camera or overlay elements obstructing sponsor logos.
- Overlays covering the minimap or in-game map area.
- Overlays obscuring the scoreboard or score display.
- Channel name or personal branding overlapping official sponsor placements.
4.4 Technical incidents
In the event of a technical issue during the broadcast — including feed interruption, audio desynchronization, or broadcast delay errors — co-streamers must contact the EWC broadcast team immediately. Switching to unofficial feeds as a workaround is a breach of these guidelines and is not permitted under any circumstances.
4.5 Twitch Co-Stream Feature
All approved co-streamers broadcasting on Twitch will have to opt into the Twitch Costream Feature. Here are the instructions to enable your channel for the feature: https://help.twitch.tv/s/article/costreaming
5. Branding & Intellectual Property
All match footage, graphics, music, branding, and production elements associated with the EWC broadcast are the exclusive property of the Tournament Organizer and its licensors. Co-streamers are granted a limited, non-exclusive licence to broadcast the official feed as part of the watch-party experience. The following obligations apply:
- The broadcast must not be reframed or cropped in a manner that removes sponsor placements from view.
- Co-streamer overlays, branding, or advertisements must not be placed over official EWC or sponsor logos.
- Direct competitors of official EWC sponsors must not be promoted during the broadcast.
- Broadcast content — including footage, graphics, and audio — must not be clipped, repackaged, or redistributed outside of the live stream without prior written consent from EWC.
- All official logos and overlays must remain visible and unobstructed throughout the stream.
5.1 Likeness & Promotional Use
You grant the Esports Foundation a perpetual, royalty-free license to use your likeness, voice, and excerpts from your Broadcast for marketing and promotional purposes in connection with the Esports World Cup.
6. Enforcement & Penalties
Violations of these guidelines will be reviewed by EWC and may result in the following actions, applied at EWC's sole discretion. EWC reserves the right to escalate directly to any enforcement level based on the nature or severity of the violation. Repeated minor violations may be treated cumulatively as a single major violation.
- Level 1 — Formal warning
A written warning is issued to the co-streamer documenting the nature of the violation. - Level 2 — Removal from the program
The co-streamer is removed from the current event's co-stream program with immediate effect. - Level 3 — Permanent ban
The co-streamer is permanently prohibited from participating in any future EWC event or program. - Level 4 — Legal action
Reserved for severe, deliberate, or repeated violations. EWC may pursue legal remedies available under applicable law.
7. Confidentiality
Co-streamers may be granted access to confidential materials as part of the program. All such materials must be treated as strictly confidential and must not be disclosed, reproduced, or distributed without prior written consent from EWC. Confidential materials include, but are not limited to:
- Early access broadcast content or preview materials.
- Production schedules and run-of-show documentation.
- Player or staff communications shared in the course of the program.
- Sponsor documentation, commercial agreements, or strategy materials.
This confidentiality obligation applies throughout the duration of the co-streamer agreement and continues in full force following its conclusion or expiry.
