The EWC Title Defender program is a significant badge of honor at the Esports World Cup. As a Title Defender, your Club earns a direct, guaranteed invitation back to the world stage. While everyone else fights through the Road to EWC, the reigning champions are already waiting. With this title comes prestige earned the hard way, a mark reserved for the few who proved themselves when it mattered most. Title Defenders carry the pride of setting the standard for an entire game, measured not by potential but by legacy. Every match is played with a target on their backs, every night a restless one, knowing the entire field is studying their every move. Winning the title was only the beginning. Holding it is the hardest fight of all.

Official Title Defender Invite Rule

  • To be eligible for the EWC 2026 Title Defender invitation, the Club represented in 2025 needs to remain the same and at least 1 active starting player from 2025 needs to be on the active starting roster for 2026 again (1 of 2/3/4/5 in team game titles, the same single player in solo game titles).
  • This requirement needs to be met from the 23rd Feb 2026 onward. If at any later time there is no such player on the active roster, the slot will be passed on to the next replacement option in line (replacement rules are defined per game title)

Note: The Official Title Defender Invite Rule is going to be adjusted, starting from the EWC 2027.

  • To be eligible for the EWC Title Defender invitation starting from 2027, the same club representation requirement needs to be met from the final day of the corresponding game championship at the previous year of EWC

Updates to 2026 contenders:

  • EWC 2025 Street Fighter 6 champions KuaiShou Gaming are not eligible for the 2026 invite under the Title Defender Rule because their winning player will represent a new club at EWC 2026
  • Competitions in Fortnite and Trackmania are new additions to the EWC lineup and therefore have no Title Defenders
  • Competitions in Counter-Strike 2 and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang have no invite available, but the qualified EWC 2025 Champions will be the Title Defenders of EWC 2026
