Notable Stories of EWC 26 Week 7

Aug 23, 2026.

Week 7 of the Esports World Cup 2026 is officially in the books and with it, the EWC comes to a close. The final week saw champions crowned in Fortnite, Trackmania, CS2 and Crossfire, bringing one last wave of high-stakes action, dramatic finishes and standout performances. After seven weeks of competition, the Club Championships winner has been crowned, but let's not forget about all the action from this final week.

Fortnite Reload Championship at EWC 26

Survival Stage and Finals

AG.AL’s hunt for the Club Championship almost ended with their Fortnite team’s elimination in the Reload Championship. The duo of Danes struggled early in the tournament, falling into the Survival Stage. After battling back through this cutthroat lobby, they found themselves pitted against fellow CC hopefuls Team Falcons and Team Vitality in the finals.

But in the end, none of these teams would score Club Championship points from Fortnite. The result meant that everything would come down to Trackmania, showcasing how the broader narrative of the EWC makes every game matter.

CROSSFIRE at EWC 26

Groups Stage and Playoffs

Regional rivalries don’t disappear just because you’re playing in a different tournament, and China’s BaiSha Gaming and KINGZERO-eSports have been battling for the top spot in CROSSFIRE for years.

At EWC 26, KINGZERO initially scored a win over BaiSha, avenging their CrossFire Pro League Season 28 finals loss, and sending BaiSha to the lower bracket. KZ would meet BaiSha again in the playoffs, with BaiSha this time taking the win, pushing KZ into third place.

Trackmania at EWC 26

Playoffs

While most will remember Trackmania as being the event where Gwendal "Gwen" Duparc clutched the Club Championship, we cannot forget the crucial Quarterfinals match that pushed Team Falcon’s Carl-Antoni "Carl Jr." Cloutier out of the running.

A stacked bracket that featured four of Trackmania’s top stars went to a photo finish with all four players on Finalist mode. This heat absolutely could have gone any way, but with Carl Jr.’s third place finish, it meant that elsewhere in the bracket Gwen could lock things down for AG.AL.

CS2 at EWC 26

Playoffs

While Spirit lifted the trophy on Sunday (Aug. 23) their greatest achievement might have been ending their streak of top-tier event losses to Team Vitality. The squad had fallen to Vitality at Intel Extreme Masters Rio 2026, the StarLadder Budapest Major 2025, and BLAST Rivals Fall 2025.

But at EWC 26, Spirit found their footing. On Aug. 21, the team knocked out Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut and company, ending the home-teams run at the event. Still, French fans rallied at the Accor Arena later in the week, supporting the team that had eliminated their own.
