FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves will be returning for the Esports World Cup 2027, joining the iconic EWC lineup of games for the third consecutive year. With a stacked roster of international contenders and a legendary trophy on the line, the stage is set for another historic showdown.
The 2026 tournament in Paris was full of drama and unforgettable moments. The bracket was blown wide open early when reigning 2025 EWC champion Goichi "GO1" Kishida withdrew due to health issues, and 2025 runner-up Zeng "xiaohai" Zhuojun was eliminated in the first group stage.
Underdog Luis Guadalupe “DarkAngel” Castillo Gomez of NAVI delivered a fairytale performance to lift the EWC 2026 trophy. After fighting through a tough finals bracket—including a comeback from an 0-3 deficit in the quarterfinals—DarkAngel unleashed a dominant Terry Bogard to defeat Virtus.Pro's Kenta “mi2ha4” Ichihara 4-1 in the grand final, securing $250,000 and 1,000 Club Championship points for NAVI.
As the scene transitions into 2027, all eyes will be on the reigning champion and the elite veterans seeking redemption on the global stage.
Having improved on his third-place finish in 2025 to capture his first major trophy in Paris, DarkAngel has established himself as one of the top FATAL FURY players in the world. Representing NAVI, his aggressive Terry Bogard playstyle will make him the prime target for every contender looking to take the crown in 2027.
A formidable lineup of international stars will be hunting for victory at EWC 2027. Legendary champions like xiaohai and GO1 will look to bounce back from their early exits in 2026 and reclaim their spot at the top of the fighting game community. Meanwhile, top performers from 2026 including mi2ha4, Nemo (Saishunkan Sol Kumamoto), and Laggia (REJECT) will present fierce competition in 2027.
