Peter “Asuna” Mazuryk earns first major international trophy after more than five years representing 100 Thieves, with a rebuilt roster featuring standout rookies.
PARIS, France (July 12, 2026) -- 100 Thieves have claimed the VALORANT trophy at Esports World Cup 2026, triumphing over local rival and reigning Champions winners NRG Esports 3-1 in the grand final to take home the $600,000 first place prize and 1,000 Club Championship points.
The victory gives VALORANT star Peter “Asuna” Mazuryk his first major international trophy, after more than five years with 100 Thieves, the club he joined when he was 17. He has stuck with 100 Thieves for most of his professional VALORANT career so far, and now after rebuilding the roster core with some exciting rookies, he has finally managed to lift the international trophy he has been searching for.
"We have an amazing coaching staff, an amazing in-game leader, and we just meshed really well, and it took us a while to get going, but I'm glad we hit our peak right at the right time," said Peter “Asuna” Mazuryk.
100 Thieves took the victory over VCT Americas rival NRG in overtime on the fourth map of the best-of-five final, after comfortably taking the first two maps. NRG prevented a sweep with a win on Haven, and established a healthy 9-3 lead on Ascent, looking likely to tie the final up at 2-2 and force a fifth map. But 100 Thieves, led by rookie in-game leader Jordan "vora" Pulwer, pulled off a comeback to force overtime and finish the map 14-12.
"It's amazing. I'm glad my team had so much confidence in me, my team, my coaches, my boys. I wouldn't be able to do this without their trust and I'm so happy that we're here today in front of all of these people to show we're a good-ass team," said Jordan "vora" Pulwer.
The path to the grand finals for 100 Thieves started in the group stage where they secured two victories to lock in their place in the playoffs. They defeated the star-studded MIBR.LOS in the quarterfinals, before taking down Masters Santiago winners Nongshim RedForce in the semifinals.
Matthew "Cryocells" Panganiban was awarded the Sony MVP award for his performance throughout the tournament, capped off by a huge 65 kill/25 assists performance in the finals versus NRG.
"It feels really good, I still feel like I didn't perform to my own expectations, but it's been so long that I haven't won a trophy yet, and I had many doubts throughout my career, but at the end of the day, never stop believing in yourself and the people around you," said Matthew "Cryocells" Panganiban after receiving his MVP award.
Prior to the grand final, Nongshim RedForce, the only team from the Pacific region to make the playoffs, took home the third-place prize, beating out BBL Esports in two close games. Despite ending in fourth place, BBL Esports put on quite the show for the fans in Paris, with 18 year old Yusuf "Lar0k" Kanber having an incredible tournament and showing many signs of potential greatness.
