New champions have been crowned at the OWCS 2026 Midseason Championship at Esports World Cup 2026 Grand Final. While the series appeared close on paper, ZETA DIVISION delivered a commanding 4-2 victory over Twisted Minds to claim the championship and the largest share of the $1,000,000 prize pool. The series showcased ZETA DIVISION’s elite preparation and adaptability. Twisted Minds entered the Grand Final with a strategy-heavy approach, using flexible hero choices that allowed Ibrahim “Quartz” Alali to switch between hitscan setups and teleporter-focused plays to disrupt opponents. ZETA DIVISION countered with a high-mobility composition built around aggressive dives, denying Twisted Minds the space needed to execute their game plan.
Kim “shu” Jin-seo earned SONY MVP honors after playing a pivotal role in ZETA DIVISION’s championship victory. On Map 5, shu’s aggressive positioning helped ZETA quickly break through Twisted Minds’ frontline, securing a 3-2 series lead before closing out the championship in the following game. His performance, including a 6.71 KDA, 23.5 assists per minute, and 9.2K healing per minute, highlighted his defensive mastery, especially on his signature Ana.
“I believe we were able to win due to all the hard work that our head coach Crusty puts in behind the scenes,” shu said after receiving MVP honors.
At the end of 2025, Kim “Proper” Dong-hyun left his longtime home club Team Falcons to join ZETA DIVISION, a move that raised questions about how he would perform in a new environment. Those doubts quickly faded as Proper dominated OWCS Korea Stage 1 and 2 before arriving at EWC 26 in top form.
With this victory, Proper achieved the rare feat of becoming a back-to-back champion with two different organizations. His Tracer play proved pivotal throughout the Grand Final, as he consistently found unorthodox dive angles, went largely unchecked, and disrupted Twisted Minds’ ability to execute their teleporter and hitscan strategies.
ZETA DIVISION’s championship victory earned the club 1,000 Club Championship points, moving them into 8th place in the rankings with 1,500 points. Runner-up Twisted Minds sit just behind in 9th place with 1,400 points, while T1’s third-place finish added 500 points and moved them into 7th with 1,750 points. Both ZETA DIVISION and T1 have reached their ceiling in the Club Championship race, as neither club has any remaining events to compete in. Their OWCS MSC performances secured their final points totals, leaving them to watch the remaining tournaments determine their final standings.
