MSC at EWC 25 Champions: Team Liquid PH Make It Count
Aug 02, 2025.
Team Liquid PH soundly thrashes Selangor Red Giants in the grand finals of the MSC at EWC 25. Congratulations to Team Liquid for etching their names into Esports World Cup history.

It's a landmark moment for Team Liquid at the 2025 Esports World Cup, as Team Liquid Philippines lifts the MSC at EWC 25 trophy. In a stunning end to the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid Season Cup at the 2025 Esports World Cup, Team Liquid PH defeated Selangor Red Giants OG Esports in a decisive 4-1 victory in the Grand Final.
Selangor Red Giants, EWC 24 ML:BB champions, appeared to be the perfect match for Team Liquid PH. But when push came to shove, the Malaysian club fell short against the terrifying power of Liquid.

Team Liquid’s shaky start
After breezing through the knockout bracket, Selangor Red Giants looked incredibly strong heading into the grand finals. Team Liquid, on the other hand, had not dropped more than one map in a series all tournament.
That dominance didn’t phase the Red Giants, who came out swinging in the first match. They delivered a dominant performance in the early game, securing the first few Turtles and controlling the Lord to close things out. From the outset, Selangor looked primed to repeat their incredible 2024 performance, but Team Liquid had other ideas.

Flipping the script
Heading into the game, analysts had been critical of Team Liquid's draft priority, with the team not banning or prioritizing picks like Pharsa. Instead, Liquid's focus was on dominant early-game picks and objective control. After a more balanced second game, Liquid sped ahead with an 11k gold lead by 16 minutes and shut things down with a final push with the Lord.
Unfortunately, this was the final time the games would seem close. From game three onwards, Selangor Red Giants found themselves baited into bad fights and moving out of position. In just a short amount of time, Team Liquid had gone from 0-1 to 2-1 up and in full control of the series.
In games three and four, it was undoubtedly Sanford "Sanford" Vinuya’s Gloo that was a game-changer, giving Liquid the early strength they needed to win. From game four in particular, it looked like Selangor never had a chance, with their opponents locking down the first blood and quickly building a huge gold lead. Ultimately, that penultimate game was not even remotely close and was one of the shortest games in the tournament, at just over ten minutes.
SONY MVP
After his dominant performance on Gloo, Sanford "Sanford" Vinuya was named the SONY MVP of the tournament, claiming the $10,000 reward. The win also gave Team Liquid their second Club Championship victory of the weekend, with Magnus Carlsen claiming victory in Chess at EWC 25 on August 1st.
Team Liquid picks up 1,000 Club Points with the win, pushing them further into the lead. Their ML:BB team will also be taking home $1,000,000 in prize money.

Selangor Red Giants OG Esports will have to settle for $500,000. In the third-place match earlier in the day, the battle for ONIC supremacy took place, with ONIC’s Indonesian roster squaring off against ONIC Philippines. The mirror matchup delivered one of the most intense series of the tournament, with ONIC PH narrowly defeating their sister team. Grant "Kelra" Pillas rose again to the occasion, earning his second knockout stage MVP award. ONIC PH walks away with $250,000 and 500 Club Championship points for ONIC.
With hundreds of matches taking place over the next week, new legends will rise as champions are crowned and rivals are toppled. Watch the Esports World Cup 2025 live or check out the ticket options to watch the games in person!
