EWC 2026 Week 2 Champions Recap Some will rise, others will fall. Read on for a breakdown of the second thrilling week of competitive action at the 2026 Esports World Cup.
The second week of competition crowned winners in League of Legends, Dota 2, MWI, and Free Fire. After four thrilling finals, Dplus KIA, PVISION, Team Vitality, and LYON lifted trophies at EWC 26. With each tournament awarding Club Championship points, the race for this year's title continues to take shape as clubs fight to build their legacy in Paris.
Dplus KIA’s clinical sweep
The League of Legends Grand Final saw Korea’s Dplus KIA silence a deafening Karmine Corp crowd in Paris. Entering the tournament far from favorites after inconsistent domestic performances, DK delivered a surgical 3-0 sweep against the hometown heroes. Bot laner Shin "Smash" Geum-jae earned SONY MVP honors after a standout performance across all three games. With the victory, Dplus KIA secured the $600,000 first prize and proved that, after years of rebuilding, the organization can once again compete with the world's best.
Vitality defends the crown
The MLBB Women’s International final delivered a highly anticipated rematch of the 2024 championship series between Team Vitality and Natus Vincere. Vitality successfully defended its title with a 4-2 victory, overcoming a back-and-forth battle before closing out the series in dominant fashion. After surviving the longest game of the tournament in Game 3, the defending champions found another gear in the final two maps to secure the historic repeat. SONY MVP Viorelle "Vival" Chen led the charge, dedicating the victory to the home fans who helped fuel Vitality’s championship run.
LYON’s historic turnaround
Free Fire delivered the week’s greatest comeback story. LYON, after narrowly avoiding elimination in the Group Stage, fought through the Survival Stage to earn a spot in the Finals. Once there, they unleashed a record-breaking performance, securing 33 eliminations in a single map, the most in EWC history. Their dominance continued throughout the seven-match series, culminating in a Booyah in the final game to claim the championship. The performance earned LYON the $300,000 first prize and established the Mexican club as a force on the global battle royale stage.
Birthday bash for PVISION
PVISION defeated BB Team in a thrilling four-game series to claim the Dota 2 at Esports World Cup 2026 championship. Dominant throughout the tournament, PVISION entered the Grand Final having gone nearly untouched through the Group Stage, dropping just a single game against Dota 2 at EWC 25 champions Team Spirit. Standing in their way was BB Team, an equally talented roster that had eliminated underdog contenders Nigma Galaxy and Vici Gaming on their path to the final. After dropping the opening game, PVISION battled back in a marathon Game 2 that lasted over an hour before closing out the series with two straight victories. Evgeniy "Noticed" Ignatenko earned MVP honors for his role in shutting down BB Team’s star carry Ilya "Kiritych" Ulyanov across three consecutive games, while team captain Andrey "Dukalis" Kuropatkin celebrated the championship by wishing teammate Edgar "9Class" Naltakian a happy birthday during their Paris victory.
As chapter two of the Club Championship race has been written, Natus Vincere sits atop the standings with 1,750 points. Team Vitality follows closely behind in second place with 1,400 points, while AG.AL rounds out the top three with 1,100 points.
What separates the top two clubs is that they are the only teams to have already fulfilled all eligibility requirements for the Club Championship title, securing both a tournament victory and a second top-eight finish. With that box checked, their goal for the remaining five weeks is simple: collect as many points as possible and defend their position at the top. Their rivals, meanwhile, still need to go above and beyond, requiring a tournament victory from one of their remaining teams if they want a chance to lift the Club Championship trophy at the end of EWC 26.
