Aug 25, 2025.

Some will rise, others will fall. Read on for a breakdown of another thrilling week of competitive action at the 2025 Esports World Cup.

Club of the Week Award

Two tournaments at the 2025 Esports World Cup were widely seen as China’s to dominate: KWC at EWC 25 and CROSSFIRE at EWC 25. Both games have deep-rooted histories in China, and AG.AL claimed first place in each, bringing the trophies home. These victories secured the club’s spot as EWC 25’s final Club of the Week.

Player of the Week Award

Zeng "Xiaohai" Zhuojun has proven, yet again, why he is considered a legend in the fighting game community. After nearly winning FATAL FURY: COTW at EWC 25 during the opening week of the event, he captured the Street Fighter 6 at EWC 25 title through an incredible run in Riyadh. The back-to-back EWC champion is your player of the week.

CROSSFIRE at 2025 Esports World Cup

AG.AL takes the CROSSFIRE crown

In a tournament dominated by Chinese talent, AG.AL rose above the rest to claim the title of CROSSFIRE at EWC 25 champions. Despite facing a few lopsided maps along the way, AG.AL remained cool, calm, and collected, no matter how far behind they fell. In the end, that composure was more than enough to secure the $750,000 first-place prize.

AG.AL’s Meng “Doo” Kun came through in the clutch during the tournament final against BaiSha Gaming, earning SONY MVP honors.

Street Fighter 6 at 2025 Esports World Cup

Another back-to-back EWC champion

After failing to secure the trophy in FATAL FURY: COTW at EWC 25, Zeng "Xiaohai" Zhuojun went on an awe-inspiring run in SG6 at EWC 25. He even took revenge on the player who beat him earlier this summer, Goichi "GO1" Kishida, on his way to the grand final. His final opponent was unexpected: a 15-year-old Chilean prodigy named Derek Blaz. The final was as epic a showcase as Street Fighter 6 could provide, with Xiaohai coming back from a 3-0 deficit to win the series 5-4.

Xiaohai takes home $250,000 for his victory and joins an exclusive group of competitors who have won two EWC trophies in a row.
