The North American squad conquer the EWC out of 24 global teams

Soniqs has etched its name in Esports World Cup history. The North American squad was one of 24 teams to travel to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia this month for Esports World Cup: PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS — and when the dust settled, Soniqs reigned supreme with 103 points in the Grand Finals.

Soniqs’ road to victory

Soniqs qualified for EWC: PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS due to its global competitive ranking after finishing 1st in the Esports World Cup 2024: Americas Qualifier and began the tournament as one of the eight teams in Group A.

In the Group Stage, Soniqs finished 9th overall with 78 points and was the third highest ranking from Group A behind The Expendables and Danawa e-sports. In the Grand Finals, Soniqs came alive and won 25% of the rounds. The three Chicken Dinners in Rounds 1, 7, and 8 and the squad’s 60 kills – fourth-highest in Grand Finals – were enough for Soniqs to lay claim to 1st place.

Esports World Cup: PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS marks Soniqs’ first S-tier championship of the year and its ninth victory at the top level since the team’s inception at the onset of 2019.

PUBG MVP and prize money

The squad was congratulated on its victory by American DJ and producer Steve Aoki, and while the Sony MVP award went to TSM’s Pedro "sparkingg" Ribeiro, there is no doubt that Soniqs was the best squad competing at EWC: PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS.

The prize pool of Esports World Cup: PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS is $2,000,000 USD, and Soniqs will take home the largest $700,000 chunk as the champion of the tournament. Soniqs also won 1,000 EWC Club Championship Points, placing the organization in a 10-way tie for 11th place with XSET, Team Redline, Selangor Red Giants, Omega Esports, Luna Galaxy, KPL Dream Team, Crazy Raccoon, Alpha7 Esports, and Alliance.
