23rd October, 2023 – The Esports World Cup (EWC) was announced today during The New Global Sport Summit held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The Esports World Cup will not only continue the legacy of Gamers8 but will keep growing it to the next level. It will offer the largest prize pool in esports and feature the most popular esports titles across all major gaming genres. It will welcome a new cross-game competition format, awarding prizes for both individual game titles and club performance and crowning the best of the best in esports. The Esports World Cup has four key pillars:

  • Multi-title format: It will be the ultimate tournament with the top titles in esports
  • Cross game rivalry: It will crown the world’s best club
  • Life-changing prizes: It will offer the largest prize pool in the history of esports
  • Unparalleled entertainment: It is part of the largest esports festival on earth

The EWC is run by the Esports World Cup Foundation, an independent non-profit organization led by Ralf Reichert as CEO. Its goal is to advocate for the esports industry’s collective benefit and support its financial stability. The EWC Foundation’s ultimate goal is to support the entire esports ecosystem, to make sure that athletes and clubs have a global platform to compete on every year – one that gets bigger and better with every iteration.

Ralf Reichert, CEO of the Esports World Cup Foundation said: “We are excited about the announcement of the Esports World Cup, a tournament that will bring together the world’s best esports athletes and clubs in a cross-game competition format. Our goal is to provide a platform for professional players from all over the world to showcase their skills and compete on a global stage.
