VK Gaming are the ALGS Midseason Playoffs champions after a tense ninth match where they defeated Wolves Esports in a winner-takes-all finish.

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (July 13, 2025) VK Gaming has won the ALGS Midseason Playoffs at 2025 Esports World Cup, becoming champions after outlasting six other match-point teams in a dramatic ninth game that will go down in the Apex Legends history books.
Heading into the tournament, which was the second major event of the 2025-2026 ALGS season, few people had VK Gaming down as a favourite to win the event. Despite topping the APAC South Pro League, they could only manage 17th place at the ALGS Open and as a result were outsiders for the Midseason trophy.
But a strong performance on the opening day of the competition netted them a spot in the finals, and from there on, they looked impressive. A win in the first game and two more top four finishes put them on match point by game six, and a heartbreaking second place in game eight would likely have been enough to crush the spirits of lesser teams.
Seven teams entered game nine of the grand final on match point, each needing just one more win to claim the trophy and place their key inside the Esports World Cup totem. ROC Esports, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Team Falcons, Wolves Esports, 100 Thieves, Team Nemesis and Gen.G all had hit the 50 points match point threshold, meaning their next victory would secure the title.
But it was VK Gaming who bounced back with an incredible performance. It all came down to a final battle against Wolves Esports, where VK Gaming won a tense 1v1 to close out the lobby and take the EWC title.
“Thank you to my fans, thank you, everyone, it’s been a long journey,” said Cai "Kasssa" Denglang, after lifting the trophy.
VK Esports’ star Chen "QQ" Yin-hong earned the MVP honours after a standout performance across the entire tournament. He will take home an extra $10,000 and the title of MVP for his influence in crucial maps and his calmness under pressure in the final moments. Asked how it felt to win and be the series MVP, QQ kept it short and sweet, saying; “It is incredible!”
Elsewhere in the ALGS Midseason Playoffs at 2025 Esports World Cup, 100 Thieves managed to secure a seventh place finish, which usually would be nothing to write home about. However, their star player Josue "Phony" Ruiz underwent emergency appendix surgery on the opening day of the competition, returning to the stage 24 hours later to win the first match of his group and inspire his team to a solid result come the end of the tournament.
