LAST TIME ON: TEKKEN at the Esports World Cup

Last year we were treated to some of the best TEKKEN action around. In Quarterfinals, Yagami pulled off one comebacks imaginable, pulling five games in a row to reverse sweet the quarterfinals. And of course, USLAN pulled off an unbelievable upset over the hometown favorite ULSAN in a stunning 5-0 victory in the Grand Finals.

We are on year two, and it already feels like TEKKEN has a legacy at the Esports World Cup. So who’s going to be next to stand atop the heap? Find out next time at the EWC!

TEKKEN 8 at the Esports World Cup Dates and Format

You’ll want to tune in August 13-16th to witness TEKKEN 8 in all its glory. On the format side of things, we’ll need to winnow down the 32 fighter field to just eight, so we’ll start with not one but two group stages.

The Stage 1 Group stage will split players into eight groups and have them compete in a GSL style bracket, with the top two in each group advancing to Stage 2. Stage 2 is also a group stage, but now we have four groups of four players. Once again, the top two advance, and this time they will break into the single-elimination bracket featuring eight players.

The survivor of the intense Top 8 will be named the TEKKEN 8 at the Esports World Cup champion!
