Consistency was key for the squad as they wreaked havoc during both the group stage and finals of the EWC

Several competitions at the inaugural Esports World Cup in Riyadh Saudi Arabia this summer have featured nailbiting bouts and victories claimed on a razor’s edge. Esports World Cup: ESL R1 was a different story – a story dominated by its main character, Team Redline.

Team Redline’s road to victory

Team Redline set the standard in every aspect of the competition at EWC: ESL R1.

In the Group Stage, Team Redline finished 1st with 175 points. The 2nd place squad, Team Vitality, was nearly 50 points lower than Redline with 126, and the next highest placing from Team Redline’s Group A was 6th place BS+COMPETITION with 76 points.

In the Grand Finals, Team Redline started with 100 points – 28 over 2nd seed Team Vitality – and ended in 1st place with 300 points ahead of VIT (150 points), MOUZ (130 points), Williams Esports (108 points), Porsche Coanda Esports Racing Team (105 points), and Guild Esports (77 points.)

Redline had three 1st place finishes in the grand finals of Esports World Cup: ESL R1, but consistency throughout the event was the squad’s X-factor. Redline never finished outside of the top 4 once in the grand finals and only finished outside of the top 3 once.

Team Redline also destroyed the Driver Championship in equally dominant fashion as the Team Championship. Three of the top four placings were claimed by Redline drivers – Kevin Siggy took gold while Sebastian Job and Luke Bennett settled for 2nd and 4th, respectively.

ESL R1 prize pool at EWC

Team Redline is taking home $140,000 of the $500,000 prize pool of the Team Championship, and their three drivers in the top four of the Driver Championship combined for $53,000 of the $500,000 prize pool.

Team Redline has also etched its name in history at the inaugural Esports World Cup with 1,000 Club Championship Points; good for a 10-way tie for 11th place with XSET, Soniqs, Selangor Red Giants, Omega Esports, Luna Galaxy, KPL Dream Team, Crazy Raccoon, Alpha7 Esports, and Alliance.
