Team Falcons crowned first-ever Esports World Cup: Free Fire Champions.

2024-07-14

After struggling in Point Rush, Team Falcons bounced back to become Free Fire's inaugural EWC champions.

Congratulations to Team Falcons, your Esports World Cup: Free Fire Champions. This team showed up when it counted, book ending the Grand Finals with two Booyahs to install their key in the inaugural EWC Free Fire trophy and cement their names in the EWC history books.

How Team Falcons won EWC: Free Fire 2024

Team Falcons — consisting of Thai players Cozq, OnFire, Peter, and Onemore — put on a respectable performance in the Knockout Stage, placing 3rd overall. However, they were not a favorite to win the tournament after only earning a single head-start point during the Point Rush stage.

Determined to shake off a lackluster Point Rush performance, they kicked off their Grand Finals with a banger, winning the first Booyah of the series with 28 kills and taking a huge series lead with 40 points!

In that game, they got warmed up by eliminating miners.gg via a killing spree and quad kill from Onemore and Peter respectively.

From there, Peter farmed the lobby. He earned a Penta-kill while putting down Brazil’s top team LOUD, and then secured the Booyah against All Gamers with a high-stakes jump shot in the final circle!

Despite a huge lead, the rest of the field caught up to Team Falcons over the next few matches. Heading into Game 6, it was a four horse race for the championship — EVOS Esports in the lead, All Gamers a single point behind Falcons, and Miners a handful of points back after a double-booyah in Game 4 and 5.

Fans were on edge during the final game, with it looking like the Falcons were throwing away a Championship as multiple members went down. But in a thrilling display of skill and determination, Onemore put his team on his back, earning 5 brutal back-to-back eliminations and reviving his team to keep their dreams alive.

In the Final circle of the tournament, it came down to EVOS and Falcons. With the trophy in reach, Falcons turned on the afterburners, bulldozing EVOS to earn a Championship-winning Booyah!
