Team BDS sweep w7m esports to win Esports World Cup: Rainbow Six

2024-08-04

Team BDS dominated the competition and finished in style with a clean sweep in the final.

Team BDS has a reputation for playing high-quality Rainbow Six: Siege in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and it was more of the same at EWC 2024.

BDS defeated w7m esports in a grand finals clean sweep to become champion of Esports World Cup: Rainbow Six. This is the third consecutive Gamers8 title that Team BDS has won, making the squad back-to-back-to-back champions of the event.

Team BDS’ journey to victory

Team BDS entered the Esports World Cup: Rainbow Six in Group A and defeated Team Cruelty 7-4 in the upper bracket quarterfinals. In the upper bracket semifinals, Team BDS had its first bout with w7m esports, which the eventual champion won 7-2 to qualify for Playoffs.

The Playoffs switched Esports World Cup: Rainbow Six to a best-of-three format with a sole best-of-five series as the grand final — but Team BDS continued to get stronger as the tournament progressed. A 2-1 quarterfinals victory over FaZe Clan was followed up with back-to-back sweeps of Team Furia 2-0 in the semifinals and the 3-0 grand finals over w7m esports.

Though lossless in the Playoffs, w7m esports hit a brick wall against Team BDS in the grand finals of EWC: Rainbow Six.

BDS’ map score against w7m esports in the grand finals was 21-6 — after losing 7-2 on Clubhouse, w7m esports got a little something going on their map pick, Consulate, but were only able to muster three points before losing once again. Oregon felt like a formality as BDS cruised through map 3 7-1 to take the series in a clean sweep.

Josh “Yuzus” Pritchard, the sole Englishmen on Team BDS, was named the Rainbow Six Playstation MVP.

Team BDS’ spoils of victory

Team BDS’ 1st place finish at Esports World Cup: Rainbow 6 landed the squad more than just back-to-back-to-back bragging rights. BDS is taking home the $750,000 lion’s share of the $2,000,000 prize pool and have also been awarded 1,000 EWC club points.

In the club point standings at EWC 2024, BDS joins T1, Selangor Red Giants, Smart Omega Esports, Crazy Raccoon, and Alpha 7 Esports, and KPL Dream Team in a seven-way tie for 5th place.
