2024-08-12

The penultimate week of EWC is full of promise with three esports titans in Starcraft II, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, and EA FC 24.

The games featured in Week 7 of the Esports World Cup are some of the most iconic in the scene. StarCraft II is one of the oldest esports scenes and still reps real-time strategy games, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is from one of the most popular FPS games in the world, and EA FC 24 represents sports games!

It’s a lot to take in for esports fans. If you want to follow the wide range of action in Week 7, here are the most anticipated matches of each game to watch!

Esports World Cup: StarCraft II

Esports World Cup: Starcraft II will bring 18 of the best Starcraft II talents in the world to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Half of the players at EWC: Starcraft II are Terran players, while the other half consist of five Zerg players and four Protoss players.

If there’s one player to watch in the group stage of Esports World Cup: Starcraft II, it’s BASILISK’s Joona "Serral" Sotala. The Finnish Zerg maestro qualified for EWC 2024 with a 1st place finish at ESL SC2 Masters 2024 Spring – his seventh first-place finish in his last nine events.

In that nine-event run, Gamers8 2023 was the only time Serral finished outside of the top 4, and his quest for redemption in Riyadh will be must-watch viewing to kick off Esports World Cup: Starcraft II.

The Green Wall has a relatively easy start to the tournament in Group A, which will serve as a good litmus test to see if the Green Wall can take its momentum from winning CDL 2024 and hit the ground running at EWC 2024.
