The 4 most inspiring moments from EWC Week 7

We have reached the conclusion of the Esports World Cup’s seventh week! The past seven days were filled with exciting action in Call of Duty MW3, Starcraft 2, and EA FC 24. Let’s take a look back at four of the biggest moments from EWC 2024 Week 7, from OG pros to new gaming stars.

1. Jafonso brought to tears by EA FC 24 Championship Win

The Portuguese EA FC star Jafonso walked away as the EWC champion on Sunday after only barely making it to the tournament via the Last Chance Qualifier. The final match was filled with exciting moments, but the most memorable one was at the winning moment.

Check out Jafonso’s emotional reaction following his 6-2 victory. He was visibly overwhelmed with happiness. He wept with joy as he embraced a member of his team on stage. This is what esports is all about. Winning this tournament meant everything to Jafonso, the first-ever EWC EA FC Champion.

2. Drazah holds the line with a pistol in MW3

Atlanta FaZe won the EWC COD MW3 Championship on Sunday, overcoming 100 Thieves 4-2. The most dominant map of the series was Rio Search and Destroy, and the most exciting moment of that map was Drazah styling on two defenders using the Renetti pistol.

Three FaZe Clan members were alive, but Simp was on the other side of the map. So when Cellium went down, Drazah found himself in a 1v2 situation against the two Thieves. He claimed the first kill with his rifle, but when JoeDeceives challed immediately afterward, Drazah had no time to reload. So he adapted.

He got moving — snaking, juking, and then jumping with the Renetti burst pistol to finish one of the most unlikely gunfight wins of the tournament! The round exemplified the raw skill displayed by the FaZe Clan roster throughout their epic tournament run.

3. Young hits the siuuu celebration and claims a player bounty in EA FC 24

While Jafonso won the EWC FC 24 tournament, his opponent in the final match, Young, walked away with a $50,000 USD player bounty for having the “moment of the tournament” during his earlier match against Vejrgang.

Young dominated Vejrgang in the Quarterfinals, scoring a stunning total of 9 goals throughout the match, the most of anyone at the tournament. After the win, Young was feeling himself and hit Ronaldo’s signature siuuu goal celebration on stage, to the delight of the crowd!

4. Clem puts on a Terran Masterclass to win EWC SC2

Clem defeated Serral on Sunday to become the inaugural EWC SC2 champion — and he did it in flawless 5-0 fashion. For all intents and purposes, Clem has redefined Terran as a faction, and that was on full display during the Grand Final stomping. Serral had no answers.
